Daphne Island/Galapagos

Daphne Island ist eine Vulkanisel im Norden von Santa Cruz. Daphne Island besteht aus einem Krater aus Tuffstein, dessen Kraterwände 120 Meter über den Meeresspiegel hinausragen. Auf Daphne Island wachsen keine Bäume. Obwohl die Insel einfach zugänglich ist, gibt es doch starke Einschränkungen, wenn es um das Betreten geht. Es dürfen nur Gruppen unter 12 Personen die Insel betreten. Ansonsten ist Daphne der Forschung vorbehalten. So wurde hier beispielsweise eine 20-jährige Studie an den Darwin-Finken durchgeführt. Auf Daphne leben viele Vogelarten wie zum Beispiel die Blaufußtölpel, Eulen, Tropenvögel und Fregattvögel.
